SUPER MARIO ODYSSEY VERY NICE SHOT SERIES
Mario's Earth has no nations, only a series of "kingdoms," and Bowser has been rampaging through the different kingdoms to get the greatest catering and decorations for his forced wedding. Or at least the Mario version of Earth, a big blue planet with oceans and continents, and a single orbiting moon. Mario's already fought through a castle (Super Mario 64), tropical islands (Super Mario Sunshine), space (Super Mario Galaxy 1 and 2), and a series of seemingly detached worlds connected by pipes ( Super Mario 3D World), and now he's come to Earth.
Odyssey's premise is the same as most Mario games: Princess Peach has been abducted by Bowser (this time with intentions to marry her), so Mario must save her. This $59.99 Switch game is the best Mario title since Super Mario Galaxy and stands out not only as an Editors' Choice, but as the best game on the Switch so far.
I was impressed by The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild's unfolding gameplay and narrative, a combination that made the Hyrule adventure stand out as the Switch's no-brainer game of the year. The Nintendo Switch has had an absurdly strong first year, building a library of must-have games since its March 2017 release.

A way to check this is to the leave the area and return. These separate arenas usually have one obvious moon if you get through the stage, but almost all of them will have at least two moons, with a second or third hidden somewhere in the map. Sometimes Mario will leave the map to go into a specific doorway, or board a rocket to go to a new stage, or drop in a warp pipe.
Almost All “Hat” Rooms, Rockets And Pipes Have More Than One Moon He won’t tell you how to get it, but he’ll give you the general vicinity which can help. Or, you can pay Toad 50 coins and he will actually mark the location of a moon on your map. The first is a parrot in every level that will at least tell you the name of the moon, which can be helpful or totally useless. Obviously finding every moon in Super Mario Odyssey is going to be tough, but the game offers some in-game hints if you want to avoid YouTube walkthroughs. Don’t forget about early levels too like the Cappy Kingdom which is more than just an introductory level. These stages can have anywhere from 10-15 moons in them. But after you beat the game, return to those areas and you’ll find there’s a lot more to them than meets the eye. Speaking of boss battles, some boss fights have their own stages that are not larger worlds like the other maps, but seemingly tiny arenas. Sounds easy, but it works on a half dozen bosses at least. If you do not stop running until the enemy is done chasing/aiming, they just cannot hit you. Literally the answer here is to never stop running. Secondly, most bosses have phases where they will chase you around a map or line up a shot at you. You can hit them with your normal throw, but the spin offers better coverage. The hat spin will cover your bases for swatting any and all projectiles away, like bouncing hats that are spinning around an arena, for instance. The two skills you’ll need to master are the hat spin and running. There are a diverse array of boss fights in Super Mario Odyssey, but not that diverse, particularly when you’re playing as Mario and not a creature he’s warped into. This has to do with those mysterious metal cubes in each level, so don’t bang your head against the wall trying to figure those out for too long either (like I did). Without saying much, something happens after the Bowser fight that will release probably 10-20 new moons in each level, and then you can start 100%-ing places. I won’t go into too much detail here, but if you’re freaked out by the moon list on each map that says there are 50-60 moons when you’ve explored the entire map and found maybe 30, don’t worry. Some Moons You Can't Get Until You Beat The Game Explore too long in the “early state” and you’ll keep running into dead-ends.Ħ. The reason? Each map changes significantly once you beat it, like the desert map unfreezing an opening up a ton of new moon-getting opportunities. But while this is fine, I would recommend probably just plowing through straight to the boss battles and “fixing” whatever kingdom you’re in. If you’re like me, you may want to spend a ton of time exploring a map before moving on in the “main questline,” as it were, as in solving whatever the main problem is on each map. Almost All The Maps Change Significantly Once Beaten
